The second edition will be held from March 4 to 6, 2022 at Feria Valencia with the concept “From the popular comic to the graphic novel” as the axis of content.
València, June 23, 2021.- The Valencia Comic Fair gets underway and has already started preparations for its next edition that will be held at Feria Valencia from March 4 to 6, 2022. The event faces its second edition after the success of its first call in which it reached the figure of more than 25,000 visitors and will do so under the backbone of ‘From the popular comic to the graphic novel’. As in the previous edition, the Show will warm up the engines in the previous weeks through a program of events that will take place in the city and that will culminate in Feria Valencia with its celebration.
Poster with Valencian talent
For this occasion, the organization has counted on the Valencian comic book author Cristina Durán to produce the poster. The illustrator and comic book author, in addition to having a recognizable artistic voice of indisputable quality, has received numerous recognitions throughout her career, such as the 2019 National Comic Award, an award received together with Miguel Ángel Giner and journalist Laura Ballester , for the graphic novel “El día 3”.
The Valencian comic will be the epicenter of the Show
On the other hand, if in its last edition the Show was articulated around the theme of the new paradigm of heroes and villains, this time the backbone concept will be “From the popular comic to the graphic novel”. In this way, Armando Nsue, Director of the Event and Daniel Tomás, Director of Contents propose an approach that allows a broad look at the essence of the comic, its history, its present and its future. An idea that opens up numerous possibilities of content, from the programming of activities, exhibitions, tributes to classic authors, to activities that focus on the future of comics through the digital format.
The Valencia Comic Fair has become, in just one edition, one of the comic events with the most projection today, thanks not only to the public success achieved in its first edition, but also to the respectful position that the event has reserved to the comic, in general, and Valencian, in particular. In this sense, the center of gravity of the Hall will continue to be the comic, especially the Valencian one, both in the content programming and in the pavilion itself, occupying the central space.
Institutions such as the Department of Cultural Action, the Department of Youth of the Valencia City Council, the Comic Chair of the University of Valencia, Associació Editors Pais Valenciá and the Association of Professionals of Valencian Illustration (APIV), have already confirmed their support and participation for this next call
For yet another year, the Comic Book Chair will lead the Valencia Comic Fair Awards 2020. The selection of works and the choice of winners will be carried out by an independent jury of experts that will be formed in September.
